#021: I Can’t Do This Anymore, Why relationships feel so hard
by Valerie |
About once a week, I want to divorce my husband.
He’s not done anything to really warrant this, except breathe the wrong way, or just be generally irritating. And it seems I am not alone. Over drinks a few weeks ago, every single one of my friends admitted they’d had similar thoughts about their partners.
Which got me thinking: it’s probably not him. It’s probably not even us. It’s about relationships in general- and the quiet, exhausting, and often invisible pressures we carry. Especially at midlife. When let’s face it everything is in flux.
Somewhere between juggling school runs, racing through work emails, overseeing homework, planning dinners, picking out birthday presents, and finally collapsing into bed, a thought creeps in:
"This isn’t the life I pictured."
"I’m not sure I can keep doing this."
It’s rarely a single dramatic moment that opens our eyes. More often, it’s the countless small ways we start to feel unseen, even by ourselves.
You’re not overreacting. You’re not being difficult. And you are definitely not alone.
And this is why we need to talk about it.
In this week’s brilliant guest blog by Susie Giles, co-founder of Family Flow, we explore what really happens when relationships hit a crossroads- whether that means working through disconnection, facing uncertainty, or making the brave decision to separate.
Because whether you’re quietly questioning things or already deep in difficult conversations, you deserve clarity, compassion, and a path forward.
